An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Newport City Council’s Housing Support Team (formerly Supporting People Team) as a Gateway Team Leader.
The post being advertised is one of four Gateway Team Leader posts within the team and is key to the ongoing success and management of the Newport Supported Housing and Floating Support Gateway (“Newport Gateway”) ie which is the single point of access to Council commissioned housing support service in the City.
The Gateway Team Leaders manage the day to day operations of the Newport Gateway under the Housing Support Grant programme and be responsible for its strategic and operational development and deployment. Gateway Team Leaders contribute to the development of housing and other strategies, plans, policy and procedures in order to ensure that services are delivered cohesively, collaboratively and effectively to meet the needs of service users, to find solutions to prevent homelessness in accordance with the WG aspiration of homelessness being rare, brief and unrepeated
The Gateway Team Leaders are responsible for:
- Ensuring that any person living in Newport with a housing support need has the opportunity to have their support needs assessed and matched to the most appropriate service to meet those needs- Overseeing and supporting all Housing Support Grant Programme funded support provisions to ensure that contracted business partners can deliver high quality housing-related support service that work towards meeting the agreed outcomes for people on support / service.- Have a working knowledge & understanding of all statutory services connected with homeless and housing legislation.- Supporting Housing Support Grant commissioned services working towards the Rapid Rehousing agenda based on the principles of moving people to settled accommodation as quickly as possible.- Line management of The Newport Gateway Housing Support Grant team eg Gateway Duty Officer, Financial Resilience Support Workers, Assertive Move-on Workers and Gateway Assessment Workers.
