An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pathway Service to work specifically with the carers supporting young people leaving care. We are looking to appoint a Social Work Assistant to support When I’m Ready carers and supported lodgings providers.
The Pathway Service is comprised of four Pathway Teams including two long-term child looked after teams as well as a dedicated unaccompanied asylum seeking and leaving care team. We work with children and young people up to the age of 25. There are also a number of agencies operating locally who work with the young people and their families to improve their lives.
Supervision is regular and the opportunities for career development and training are excellent. Newport itself is a great place to live and work being a geographically small city with a diverse population. It is situated on the M4 corridor and is located between Bristol and Cardiff with excellent transport links. Newport is a growing city with access to affordable housing, good schools and community resources.

For this role you will be educated to "A" level standard or possess an NVQ Level 3 Social Care Qualification. or extensive experience in working with children and young people who have experienced the looked after system and or their carers.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
