Post: Contact Tracer - Contact Tracing Team
The contact tracing team are responsible for tracing and tracking positive cases of COVID-19, as part of the Welsh Governments, Test, Trace & Protect programme. Newport City Council has set up its own service for delivery to Newport residents.
A number of full time (37 hours per week) roles are available for Contact Advisors. Fixed term until March 2021. We may also consider part time applications (Please indicate full time or part time in the application form).
The role does require flexibility as you could be requested to work across 7 days a week over 8am-8pm with rota’s being agreed and issued in advance. Newport’s service is initially provided on a remote working basis with all roles being homebased. Whilst remote working is likely to remain there may be the requirement to attend sites in Newport for training, equipment and activities linked to the role. All applicants should be available to attend a Council facility within the City of Newport at short notice of which expenses for travelling to work will not be reimbursed. Digital equipment will be provided although a reliable broadband connection to support internet services including video conferencing will need to be supplied by the successful applicants
The role of the Contact Tracer is to work with positive cases of Covid 19 and interview them to establish who they have been in recent close contact with. This will involve using a case management system to record all the details of those contacts so that these can be followed up and advice provided. Contact tracers will also provide advice on how positive cases can look after themselves, details of isolation dates and where to seek further help if required. Detailed scripts and training will be available.
Secondments from internal applicants are welcomed where your manager has agreed your release to the role.
